Job summary

Muon Space seeks an Engineering Manager to guide a team of electrical engineers customizing spacecraft platforms for specific missions. You will own electrical deliverables from requirements through design, build, integration, and test while staying technically engaged.

This hybrid role is on-site in San Jose, three days per week, with a strong customer-facing element and collaboration across mechanical, software, and systems teams.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years designing, integrating, or testing complex electrical systems in harsh environments.
  • 2+ years leading or managing engineering teams.
  • Ability to read, understand, and debug electrical designs.
  • Strong knowledge of spacecraft electronics: avionics, power, harnessing, sys integration.
  • Experience with electrical harness design, documentation, and integration.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB tools; standard lab equipment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills; hands-on mentor.
  • B.S. or higher in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of electrical engineers for mission-specific work; plan resourcing and scale hiring.
  • Instruct and coach early-career engineers; provide design feedback and growth plans.
  • Own electrical deliverables from requirements through design adaptation, build, test.
  • Define harness definition, routing, documentation, and payload interfaces.
  • Translate customer needs into electrical solutions; reuse platform hardware where possible.
  • Review schematics, support bring-up, and debug hardware issues to root cause.
  • Set and uphold engineering standards for documentation, ECO/DCO, and test procedures.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, systems, and production teams for integration.
