Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking a bold and dynamic Manager, Structures & Mechanisms, to provide operational leadership for the Structures & Mechanisms team at the Space Station Development Facility in Webster, Texas. You will develop people, processes, tools, and technical capabilities to support current and future programs, ensuring high-quality analysis and adherence to requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical/Aerospace/Space Engineering with 10+ years in mechanical design for

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Space Engineering, or related technical discipline.
10+ years of experience in mechanical design and engineering for aerospace structures and mechanisms.
Experience scaling engineering teams in a rapid-growth environment.
Experience mentoring or instructing engineers in technical fundamentals and engineering best practices.
Hardware lead for complex flight hardware assemblies (human rated preferred).
Experience taking mechanical hardware from concept to flight delivery.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of Mechanical Engineers across all programs; establish standards and practices for technical rigor and consistency.
Balance priorities with program managers and leaders; manage resource conflicts and risks.
Maintain labor forecasts, staffing plans, and resource estimates for Structures & Mechanisms work.
Define acceptance criteria and quality thresholds; monitor metrics and drive improvements.
Develop team capabilities and knowledge management; foster growth and depth of expertise.
