Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the team responsible for the design, development, test, and evaluation of structural and mechanical components for the first commercial space station. This onsite role is based at the Space Station Development Facility in Webster, Texas, reporting to the Senior Manager – Structures & Mechanisms.

You will own engineering lifecycles, perform analyses, review designs, and oversee manufacturing while mentoring junior engineers in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace/mechanical engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering.
• Experience with mechanisms, mechatronics in aerospace, automotive, or robotics.
• Experience with design for manufacturing and GD&T per ASME Y-14.5.

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, test, and evaluation of structural and mechanical components for the space station systems.
• Execute the engineering product lifecycle with regular design reviews.
• Onboard customer requests, develop requirements and design criteria.
• Perform preliminary analysis using FEA and hand calculations.
• Deliver models, documentation, and drawings; ensure quality in a fast-paced environment.
• Oversee manufacturing and assembly of hardware.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across teams.
