Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support design, development, test, and evaluation of structural and mechanical components for the first commercial space station. The role reports to the Senior Manager – Structures & Mechanisms and is based onsite at the Space Station Development Facility in Webster, Texas.

You will own lifecycle activities, perform analyses, and deliver fully documented designs while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to meet

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering; Master’s preferred.
• 2+ years of professional experience in mechanisms, mechatronics in space/aviation/robotics.
• Strong knowledge of static and dynamic analysis, fatigue, materials, and lubrication.
• Experience with CAD/FEA tools (SolidWorks, ANSYS, Nastran) and MATLAB/Simulink.
• GD&T per ASME Y-14.5 and design for manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, test and evaluation of structural and mechanical components of the space station systems.
• Lead the engineering product lifecycle and conduct design reviews.
• Onboard customer requests, develop requirements and design criteria.
• Perform preliminary analyses using FEA and hand calculations.
• Deliver models, documentation and drawings with high quality.
• Oversee manufacturing and assembly of hardware.
• Mentor junior engineers and support onsite.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and communicate findings.
