Job summary

Fanatics is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and scale engineering teams delivering customer-facing and internal platforms. You will supervise multiple squads, drive architectural decisions, and partner with product, design, and operations to ship high-quality software for Fanatics’ growing digital sports ecosystem.

The role requires building and mentoring teams, managing roadmaps, ensuring on-time delivery, and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience managing an engineering team.
• 4+ years of experience building highly scalable and fault tolerant systems.
• Knowledge of a broad range of design approaches and ability to deconstruct architecture for multiple teams.
• Able to scope a project with targeted dates to meet business needs.
• Know how to discern essential features and negotiate with Product Management.
• Able to communicate complex technical subjects to engineers, leaders, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiar with Agile software product delivery and SCRUM methodology.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Solid report writing skills for gathering, evaluating and presenting information.
• Thrives in an entrepreneurial, hyper-growth environment with evolving priorities.
• Team-first mentality and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
• Able to work cross-functionally within an enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and technical expertise within your engineering vertical.
• Build and lead one or more teams delivering software while adhering to engineering best practices.
• Clarify technical requirements, negotiate priorities, and manage projects to deliver on time by leading daily scrum activities.
• Clear blockers to accelerate progress of delivery.
• Collaborate with product and design to create an ambitious, achievable roadmap for executives.
• Drive reliable execution using data and KPIs to ensure transparency and continuous improvement.
• Provide updates to an executive audience and stakeholders.
• Identify how to simplify or extend solutions for best outcomes.
• Assist in recruiting and onboarding diverse engineers.
• Occasional travel to Fanatics offices and other locations for events and team activities.
