Job summary

Datadog is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team working on Husky, a petabyte-scale event store powering the company’s observability platform. You will guide architectural decisions, oversee lifecycle management of events, and collaborate with product teams to deliver scalable platform capabilities.

You will mentor engineers from junior to senior levels, participate in incident responses, and help scale the system to meet growing customer demand while maintaining operational excellence

Qualifications

• Experience leading software engineering teams and delivering high-quality software.
• Background in distributed systems and scalable platforms.
• Experience reviewing architecture decisions, RFCs, and PRs.
• Hands-on coding experience with Java or Go is a plus.
• On-call leadership and incident response experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of software engineers ranging from new grads to senior engineers.
• Be a technical leader; review architecture decisions, RFCs, and pull requests to ensure high quality ships.
• Partner with product teams to evaluate use cases, ensure smooth implementation, and prioritize platform capabilities.
• Share on-call responsibilities with the team and drive a culture of operational excellence.
• Scale a petabyte-scale database to an exabyte-scale.
