Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead and grow the Sandboxes engineering team in Seattle. You’ll set technical direction, build scalable testing capabilities, and foster a culture of operational excellence.

You will work closely with Product, Design, Data Science, and customers to understand needs and shape strategy for reusable testing tools that automate and simplify developer workflows. You’ll also mentor engineers and drive high-quality delivery across initiatives.

Qualifications

• 4+ years engineering management experience leading teams of 5+ engineers.
• 8+ years software development experience.
• Experience building reusable software with strong user empathy.
• Strong problem-solving and prioritization under ambiguity.
• Ability to own initiatives and move work forward independently.
• Experience building distributed teams across locations/time zones.
• Experience hiring engineers and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering planning and execution, partnering with Design to build clear, useful testing experiences.
• Shape the team’s strategy and roadmap, aligning partners across Product, Design, Infrastructure, Marketing, and Operations.
• Own delivery from problem definition through rollout and ongoing operation, improving both system performance and the user experience.
• Uphold high engineering standards across the team’s codebases and development practices.
• Partner with Recruiting to hire engineers and build a diverse, high-performing team.
• Coach and mentor engineers, provide candid feedback, and support career development tailored to their goals.
