Job summary

Kalmar Solutions LLC is seeking an Engineering Manager, Powertrain and Hydraulics to lead the development, implementation, and validation of powertrain and hydraulic systems for Terminal Tractors.

Responsibilities include directing multiple Mechanical Development Engineers, guiding the Product Development Team, and driving the Terminal Tractor Product Strategy Roadmap. 7+ years in vehicle design and leadership required; hybrid work model with relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years of proven experience in vehicle design, analysis, or a related field.
• Mobile equipment experience is a plus.
• Experience leading complex design projects; prior management experience is a plus.
• Comfortable with requirements management tools (Jama, DOORS, Jira/Confluence).
• Fluent in English both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Team Management: Recruit, mentor, and manage mechanical engineers, fostering skill growth and collaboration.
• Project Oversight: Manage timelines, resources, and delivery across multiple projects.
• Technical Review and Problem Solving: Direct technical activities, review designs, improve processes, and solve complex challenges.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Coordinate with other departments and partners to communicate needs and progress.
• Process and Quality refinement: Improve development, testing, and processes for efficiency and quality.
• Resource Planning: Plan resources and inter-team assignments; analyze technology trends.
• System Design Leadership: Lead system requirement definitions to meet customer needs and regulatory requirements.
• Safety and Reliability leadership: Ensure vehicle safety and reliability through system requirements.
• Design Ownership: Own assessment and design of powertrain and hydraulic systems.
