Job summary

Thrivent seeks a senior software engineering leader to modernize and direct engineering for the Transactions/Payments domain, delivering APIs and payment features while guiding MVP scopes and the product roadmap. You will shape technology strategy across AWS, microservices, and cloud platforms, guiding estimations and budgets through design and development cycles.

The role collaborates with multiple digital and cloud teams, drives vendor negotiations, and recruits and mentors engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in MIS/CS or related field with 8+ years of software engineering leadership.
• Proven track record delivering cross-functional product experiences with Cloud hosting.
• 5+ years in RESTful services, API design, Java/J2EE, and architectural patterns.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines with SVN, Maven, Jenkins; strong AWS and serverless exposure.
• Skilled with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB), Kafka, and modern web front-ends (React/Next.js).
• Proficient in Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and leading multi-team delivery.

Responsibilities

• Define MVP scopes and outline the product roadmap for Transactions/Payments.
• Guide technology strategy, including tech stack selection and solution design.
• Lead estimations and manage product budgets throughout design and development.
• Collaborate with enterprise and cloud-platform teams; engage in vendor negotiations.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering professionals.
