Job summary

Thrivent is seeking a Manager of Engineering to lead a product team focused on platforms for account management, portfolio tracking, and wealth services. You will mentor technologists, provide technical leadership, and set operating policies aligned with Thrivent standards.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on AWS cloud, Python, Lambda, and Postgres experience and excels in driving modern engineering practices and cross-functional collaboration across IT and business partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other technical field or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of progressively responsible IT positions including 5+ years in IT discipline with wealth mgmt solutions, vendor management and roadmap development.
• 3+ years of management/supervisory experience in IT functional area leading major technical projects.
• Demonstrated leadership and experience managing multidiscipline, high-performance teams.
• Strong project management and coordination of multiple large projects.
• Experience communicating with customers and stakeholders to support business initiatives.
• Experience with data tools and IT planning within a matrix organization.

Responsibilities

• Design and guide technical solution design and architecture decisions.
• Participate in system design discussions to land approaches and deliver solutions.
• Review technical solutions and support execution of the solution.
• Develop and review software, ensure code quality and perform problem solving.
• Promote sharing of ideas and best practices; mentor and upskill teams.
• Lead cross-team collaboration, sprint demos, and product strategy alignment.
