Job summary

Reddit is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Notifications Platform team. You will lead engineers building reliable, scalable platform services powering push, email, and in-app notifications across Reddit. Drive technical direction for APIs, eventing, and observability while partnering with ML teams to productionize notification systems.

You’ll guide architecture, delivery, and operations across a high-impact area, balancing speed with reliability in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience building and managing engineering teams.
• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or Engineering Manager building large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on with highly available, low-latency services and operational excellence.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, data storage, streaming/messaging, and observability tooling.
• Able to communicate complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Entrepreneurial, self-directed and results oriented in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team that architects, builds, and operates the Notifications Platform/Foundations.
• Set technical direction for platform capabilities like APIs, eventing, orchestration, and observability.
• Collaborate with ML teams to productionize ML-powered notification systems.
• Partner with product and engineering to define contracts and improve developer experience.
• Drive the full development lifecycle from design to deployment and operation.
• Establish reliability, scalability, performance, privacy, security, and operational excellence.
• Build and maintain a diverse team across disciplines.
• Align team plans with company goals and communicate progress to stakeholders.
• Support engineers' career development and goal setting.
