Job summary

Reddit, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Notifications Platform to lead a team building scalable, reliable infrastructure powering push, email, and in-app notifications. This remote role guides technical direction across APIs, eventing, and delivery pipelines while aligning with product goals.

You will mentor engineers, drive reliability and performance, and partner with ML teams to productionize solutions. Competitive base pay and equity offered.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience building and managing engineering teams.
• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or Engineering Manager building and operating large-scale distributed systems or platform services.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, event-driven systems, and APIs in production; experience with notification, messaging, or high-volume delivery systems is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with highly available, low-latency services and operational excellence practices.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, data storage, streaming or messaging systems, and observability tooling.
• Experience setting technical direction for platform teams and balancing consistency, extensibility, and team autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team that architects, builds, and operates the Notifications Platform/Foundations at Reddit.
• Set technical direction for shared platform capabilities spanning notification APIs, eventing and workflow orchestration, delivery pipelines, user preferences, templates, experimentation, and observability.
• Collaborate with adjacent Notifications ML teams to productionize ML-powered notification systems and provide scalable platform foundations.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to define platform contracts and improve developer experience.
• Drive the full development lifecycle: design, develop, test, deploy, operate, and continuously improve highly available services.
• Establish reliability, scalability, performance, privacy, security, and operational excellence across the platform.
• Build and maintain a diverse team that collaborates across disciplines to solve complex challenges.
• Serve as a thought partner to product and upper management to align plans with company goals.
• Communicate team work and set expectations with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Help engineers identify career goals and create development plans.
