Job summary

Our Future Health is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a squad delivering critical healthcare data capabilities at scale. You will guide architecture discussions, coach engineers and ensure delivery excellence while working with researchers and product teams across data standards like OMOP and FHIR.

The role blends technical leadership with people management in a fast-moving health-data environment, shaping the future of health research infrastructure within the UK and beyond.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and developing engineers within cross-functional software or data teams.
• Engineering Manager experience with people leadership, team performance and delivery.
• Experience building or scaling teams, processes and ways of working.
• Strong engineering background to provide technical leadership in a hands-off role.
• Understanding of healthcare data standards and models such as OMOP and FHIR.

Responsibilities

• Lead an engineering squad to enable high performance and delivery excellence.
• Coach and develop engineers through mentoring and career support.
• Drive roadmap delivery by coordinating priorities and managing risks.
• Provide technical leadership for data‑focused initiatives (OMOP, FHIR).
• Collaborate with Product, Data and Technology to deliver scalable solutions.
• Facilitate technical and non‑technical discussions on priorities and trade‑offs.
• Promote engineering best practices and Agile ways of working.
• Balance delivery pace with quality, resilience and debt management.
• Support governance, incident management and service reliability.
• Communicate progress and risks to senior stakeholders and leadership.
