Job summary

SouthEastern Illinois Electric Cooperative is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the engineering department, guiding system planning, design, and long-term infrastructure strategy for reliable electric service.

The role directs load forecasting, capital programs, and safety-focused operations while coordinating with regulatory standards and cooperative policies to support grid modernization and resilience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of electric utility engineering experience, distribution focus.
• Proven leadership and ability to supervise engineering staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, technicians, and support personnel.
• Direct system planning activities, including load forecasting, capacity analysis, and long-range work plans.
• Oversee design and construction of distribution lines, substations, protective devices, and system upgrades.
• Manage engineering budgets, capital project schedules, and contractor performance.
• Ensure compliance with RUS specifications, NESC, regulations, and cooperative standards.
• Maintain and improve system modeling, GIS, AMI, and other technologies.
• Coordinate with Operations on switching, outages, reliability, and maintenance.
• Support grid modernization, automation, DER, and resiliency planning.
• Prepare reports, cost estimates, technical studies, and board presentations.
• Serve as a technical resource for internal departments and stakeholders.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
