Job summary

AEP Service Corporation seeks an Engineering Manager, Technology & Automation to lead a team responsible for Ohio Power's GridSmart performance, data governance, and integration of advanced distribution technologies. You will drive reliability, manage cross-functional projects, and prepare for future ADMS capabilities while developing technical talent.

The role emphasizes leadership, data stewardship, and coordination across engineering, IT, and operations to sustain system uptime and enable DER

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering/business/related field with substantial leadership exposure.
Minimum eight years' distribution/operations experience with five years supervisory experience.
Professional Engineer licensure preferred; PMP certification a plus.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and KPI/dashboard development skills.
Experience with distribution automation, SCADA, VVO, DER, or ADMS technologies.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of engineers to manage GridSmart performance, uptime, and KPIs.
Oversee technology integration, commissioning, and transition of new tech into production.
Govern critical engineering data, models, and supporting systems.
Prepare organization for DER penetration, ADMS readiness, and grid modernization.
Drive automation and continuous improvement to boost efficiency and reliability.
