Performance Systems Development in Ithaca, NY, seeks an Engineering Manager to lead our .NET and React software team, ensuring delivery, quality, and scalable architecture for energy efficiency software used in utility programs. You will partner with Product and Delivery Managers, and coordinate with the Software Architect to steer technical direction.

The role emphasizes people leadership with limited hands-on work, strong cross‑unit communication, and commitment to software craftsmanship.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years in software development, including designing and building enterprise software.
• 2+ years of experience managing software engineers.
• Strong skills in code review, design decisions, and engaging credibly with engineers on implementation details.
• Strong working knowledge of agile software development and hands-on experience running Scrum (certification such as CSM or PSM is a plus).
• Hands-on experience applying AI tools across the SDLC, including spec-driven development, AI-assisted coding, testing and QA, and backlog refinement.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD (build and deployment pipelines, environment promotion, release management) and automated testing strategy (unit test coverage, integration testing, and end-to-end frameworks such as Cypress).
• Experience with defect tracking and production support: triage, prioritization, severity classification, and seeing issues through to resolution.
• Experience leading a remote or distributed team.
• Experience balancing product development with client-funded work, and understanding business processes and client needs.
• Experience leading a team's adoption of AI tools and measuring its impact on delivery and quality.
• Experience supporting SOC 2, ISO 27001 or a similar compliance audit.
• Interest in or exposure to energy efficiency, building science or utility programs.

Aufgaben

• Lead PSD's software engineering team of .NET and React developers, QA, and specialized roles, including building energy simulation.
• Oversee the process turning demand into predictable sprint commitments, collaborating with Product Manager and Delivery Managers on priorities and with the Software Architect on technical direction.
• Ensure calculation and data accuracy as a core part of quality since clients rely on energy models and program data.
• Balance people and delivery leadership with limited hands-on work and maintain strong communication across business units.
