Job summary

Braze, a leading customer engagement platform headquartered in New York, seeks an Engineering Manager for its Email team. You will guide a group of engineers building scalable infrastructure for billions of emails and related reporting data, while collaborating with product, design, and other engineering teams to deliver new features and scale operations.

You will recruit, coach, and develop engineers, influence architectural decisions, and contribute as needed to code.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong track record of success, with 2+ years leading high performing teams
• Autonomy and accountability with ability to dig into technical details to inform decisions
• Ability to communicate effectively and make hard decisions and tradeoffs
• Experience building foundational systems at scale and spearheading software projects that significantly advanced the goals of your organization
• Bonus: Ruby, Rails, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq, JavaScript, or React

Responsibilities

• Lead the Email team that builds and maintains the core infrastructure delivering billions of personalized emails per month
• Collaborate with product and design to build features and scale the channel as volume grows
• Recruit, coach, and develop the team’s engineers and guide architectural decisions
• Own the team’s vision, goals, and processes and contribute code when appropriate
• Foster a culture of learning, engineering excellence, and collaboration
