Job summary

Braze is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Email team responsible for building and maintaining the core infrastructure that delivers billions of personalized emails a month and related reporting data.

You will recruit, coach, and develop engineers, shape architectural decisions, and collaborate with product and design to scale the channel as volume grows while maintaining a bias for action in a fast-changing environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong track record of success, with 2+ years leading high performing teams.
• Thrive on autonomy and responsibility, while digging into technical details to inform decisions.
• Ability to communicate effectively and make hard decisions and tradeoffs.
• Experience building foundational systems at scale and spearheading projects that advanced organizational goals.
• Bonus: Ruby, Rails, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq, JavaScript, or React experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Email team to build and maintain core infrastructure delivering billions of personalized emails monthly.
• Collaborate with product and design to implement features and scale the channel as volume grows.
• Recruit, coach, and develop engineers; guide architectural decisions; contribute code in high-leverage cases.
• Own the team vision, goals, and processes to improve engineering effectiveness.
