Job summary

Recruitometry is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead electrical and electromechanical product development in a manufacturing setting. You will drive strategy, mentor a multidisciplinary team, and oversee design, verification, and launches for elevator and automation systems.

The role requires deep experience in embedded controls, firmware, software integration, and regulatory compliance, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive engineering leadership experience in elevator manufacturing or a comparable electromechanical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong expertise in electrical engineering, embedded controls, firmware, software integration, automation, and control systems.
  • Experience leading New Product Development and Stage‑Gate product development processes.
  • Strong understanding of product design, prototyping, verification, validation, testing, and commercialization.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Standard Work, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with ERP systems, engineering documentation systems, and project management software.
  • Experience developing and maintaining engineering drawings, bills of material, product documentation, and technical standards.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, product certification, and applicable industry codes.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams while managing multiple complex projects.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Ability to work hands‑on across electrical, controls, software, automation, and product development activities.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to address complex technical and field service challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example and uphold values of humility, care, accountability, and getting the job done.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with executive leadership to establish engineering strategy, priorities, and long‑term departmental objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering team while promoting accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish quarterly priorities, monitor departmental goals, and conduct regular performance and project reviews.
  • Clearly communicate expectations, assign responsibilities, and conduct annual performance evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing drawings, bills of material, engineering documentation, installation manuals, and technical standards.
  • Manage engineering change requests (ECRs) and integration with ERP systems.
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards, procedures, processes, and best practices.
  • Ensure engineering documentation supports manufacturing, installation, service, and field operations.
  • Lead Stage‑Gate New Product Development from concept through commercialization.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Production, Purchasing, Service, Dealers, and customers to identify opportunities and requirements.
  • Lead product design, prototype development, verification, validation, testing, and product launches.
  • Develop products that improve safety, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, profitability, and customer value.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for electrical engineering and control systems.
  • Lead elevator control systems, embedded controls, firmware, software, and hardware design.
  • Provide hands‑on engineering support for software architecture, circuit design, automation, and product enhancements.
  • Review electrical designs for compliance, manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical, product, and field service issues.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies that improve performance and marketability.
  • Ensure compliance with ASME A17.1, ETL, CSA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and drive product updates; coordinate certification testing.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives, Standard Work, and Visual Work Instructions.
  • Lead MRB meetings and support SCARs.
  • Analyze warranty trends and drive corrective actions.
  • Lead the Technical Support team and provide engineering support for field issues.
  • Develop and deliver technical training for dealers and technicians.
  • Manage multiple projects with timely completion and alignment to objectives.
  • Monitor KPIs such as project completion, product launches, warranty costs, and regulatory compliance.
