Job summary

CoCounsel Legal is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Files Orchestration team, owning end-to-end delivery for the customer file workflow—from upload through indexing and observability. You will shape the team, drive robust APIs, and partner with platforms to deliver reliable, scalable experiences for agents working with customer content.

You will guide architectural decisions, ensure operational excellence with SLOs, on-call, and testing, and mentor engineers building

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of software engineering with 3+ years in people management.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale enterprise orchestration systems.
• Extensive AWS and production Python experience; knowledge of concurrency and async.
• Containerized workloads on Kubernetes; strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud fundamentals.
• Strong API-first mindset and experience treating APIs as products.

Responsibilities

• Own customer file orchestration service end-to-end (upload, storage, extraction, embedding, indexing, observability).
• Drive API-first execution with versioned contracts and documented behavior.
• Lead decisions on consistency models, delivery guarantees, and crash-recovery strategies.
• Own the queuing and flow-control architecture with fair queuing and autoscaling.
• Champion full operational ownership with on-call, SLOs, and testing as first-class engineering work.
• Collaborate with platform and client teams to deliver world-class experiences.
