Job summary

CoCounsel Legal in Frisco, TX seeks an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead the Customer Files Orchestration Service. You will own end-to-end orchestration, API-first delivery, and scale across millions of files, partnering with platforms and client apps for world-class experiences.

You will shape the team, drive reliability, and mentor engineers to build durable, high-performing software with strong operational posture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in CS, engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of software engineering with 3+ years managing engineers.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale enterprise orchestration systems.
• Extensive AWS and production Python experience.
• Proficiency with Python concurrency (asyncio) and the GIL considerations.
• Experience with containerized workloads on Kubernetes and autoscaling.
• Knowledge of consistency models and delivery guarantees in distributed systems.
• Understanding of queues, rate limiting, and backpressure.
• API-first mindset with versioned contracts and product-like APIs.
• End-to-end production service ownership including on-call and SRE practices.
• Distributed systems, cloud fundamentals, and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Own the customer file orchestration service end-to-end including upload, storage, extraction, embedding, indexing, and observability.
• Drive API-first execution and versioned contracts for a growing set of consumers.
• Lead decisions on consistency models, delivery guarantees, and state transitions across services.
• Own queuing and flow-control architecture: fair queuing, backpressure, and autoscaling.
• Champion full operational ownership with on-call, incidents, and SLOs.
• Collaborate with platforms and client teams to deliver world-class products.
