Job summary

The New York Times is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Content Data Products team in our New York City headquarters. You will report to an Engineering Director and manage a team of engineers who partner with product managers, data scientists, newsroom, and other stakeholders to turn NYT content into data products.

You will drive technical strategy for high-throughput, low-latency data delivery and warehousing, oversee roadmaps and sprints, and ensure reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in engineering management or people leadership.
• 5+ years as a software engineer.
• Experience delivering enterprise-scale software.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Ability to hire and develop engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 6–9 backend engineers.
• Define roadmaps and sprint plans.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of services.
• Collaborate with product, data science, newsroom and other partners.
• Represent team in technical discussions and communicate risks.
