Job summary

Nordic Semiconductor is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Cloud Platform team, guiding a group of platform engineers responsible for the core backend of nRF Cloud. You will set strategy for infrastructure, databases, performance, reliability, and security while scaling a successful business.

You will contribute technically through architecture design and code reviews, while ensuring team productivity, culture, and effective collaboration with Product, Security, and GTM teams.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 1 year of engineering management experience.
• Hands-on technical leadership with ability to review code, contribute to architecture, and debug production systems.
• Deep familiarity with AWS services (EKS, RDS, S3, EC2, ECS) and related tooling.
• Experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, including schema design and optimization.
• Proficiency in backend programming, with a strong preference for Python, Kotlin, and/or TypeScript.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes for deploying, operating, and scaling production workloads.
• Experience with observability/monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Sentry) and improving reliability.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to present plans to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own the nRF Cloud platform. Scale a system ingesting data from millions of IoT devices daily, while leading and coaching a team of experts.
• Own your team's productivity and output; identify blockers, balance workload, and shape workflows.
• Build and maintain a healthy team culture with clear expectations and timely feedback.
• Contribute technically through architecture design, code reviews, and debugging production issues.
• Define and evolve the cloud platform roadmap with a bias toward action and learning.
• Champion observability and technical excellence with meaningful metrics, logs, and healthy on-call rotations.
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, SDK & Field Engineering, Go To Market, and Security teams.
• Hire well and own the hiring process from roles to closing candidates.
• Represent your team across the organization with clear communication and visibility.
