Job summary

Anthropic seeks an Engineering Manager to lead teams building APIs and developer tools for the Claude platform. You will own planning, deliverables, and operational health, while guiding architecture decisions for reliable, scalable distributed systems.

You will partner with product and cross-functional groups to align roadmaps with customer needs, recruit and grow engineers, and ensure safety-focused AI software practices across the org.

Qualifications

• You have experience managing high-performing software engineering teams shipping developer products, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• You're product-minded and customer-oriented. You care about who uses what your team builds, and you've shaped roadmaps alongside product partners.
• You've built and scaled distributed systems in production, and you have the technical depth required to guide architecture and API design.
• You've led teams that ship quickly and hold a high quality bar.
• You collaborate well across functions and can align teams you don't manage.
• You care about Anthropic's mission and about developing AI safely.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers to ship high quality work quickly, owning planning, prioritization, delivery, and operational health
• Partner with product to set your team's roadmap, and bring a strong point of view on what developers need
• Talk to customers directly and turn what you learn into engineering priorities
• Guide API design and architecture decisions for distributed systems that have to stay reliable as usage grows
• Work closely with Research, Safeguards, Security, and go-to-market teams to bring new model capabilities to developers safely
• Recruit, coach, and grow strong engineers
