Job summary

Anthropic is seeking an experienced software engineer to scale Claude-driven research and engineering efforts. You will work closely with scientists and engineers to convert open questions into concrete, testable tasks and build the systems that make Claude reliable and applicable across problems.

Responsibilities include integrating scientific computing tools, designing evaluations, and shipping pilots into partner workflows.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building software, with strong engineering fundamentals and comfort across the stack.
• Have built real systems with large language models, including agents, tool use, or evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Build Claude's agent harnesses and research loops from literature review to design iteration.
• Connect scientific computing and simulation tools so Claude can drive them reliably and at scale.
• Design evaluations to verify Claude's results and be honest about limits.
• Work with partner scientists and engineers to turn problems into clear, verifiable tasks.
• Prototype with partners, ship pilots, and prune non-essential work.
• Refactor successful work into reusable tools and documented processes.
• Explain Claude's results, limits, and tradeoffs to researchers and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with research and product to improve models and roadmap.
