Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking an Engineering Manager for the CoCounsel Tax team, formed after Materia's acquisition. You will lead backend and AI engineers, shaping tax workflow automation while partnering with PM and Design to set strategy and drive delivery.

The role blends startup agility with global scale. You will grow the team, improve engineering health, and own the end-to-end scope of AI-driven features, reporting to senior leadership in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• 3+ years managing engineering teams.
• Track record of shipping production-grade backend systems at scale.
• Strong backend and cloud infra foundations; comfortable with architecture decisions.

Responsibilities

• Build and grow the team with hiring, mentoring, and development.
• Drive velocity and engineering health with improved processes and rituals.
• Set direction with product and design; roadmap and ownership alignment.
• Scope AI features end-to-end with Labs/Research teams.
• Remove cross-team blockers and scale processes across the org.
• Grow domain depth in tax automation and advisory workflows.
