Job summary

Edison Scientific, based in San Francisco, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and scale its autonomous science platform. You will guide the product engineering team, owning both API and UI layers and partnering with scientists, product managers, and designers to solve complex UX challenges for multi-user collaboration and persistence across runtimes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years managing an engineering team and leading cross-functional initiatives.
• Experience as a product engineer in a fast-paced, engineering-driven org.
• Hands-on full-stack skills: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, modern frontend, infra tooling.
• Strong systems architecture and API design experience.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow our product engineering team, mentoring engineers and scaling from four to ten by year end.
• Partner with product and research teams to bring state-of-the-art features into production.
• Set the technical strategy for the AI product platform, focusing on quality and velocity.
• Solve challenges our scientists face using our platform for discoveries.
• Own technical decision making around API and UI layers.
• Coordinate cross-functional communication between engineering and stakeholders.
