Job summary

Edison Scientific, based in San Francisco, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and scale our product engineering team and the technology behind our autonomous scientific discovery platform. You will guide the frontend and backend stack, partner with scientists, product managers, and designers, and own API and UI decisions.

This on-site role in Dogpatch offers equity, a competitive salary, and benefits as we grow from four to ten engineers this year.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience managing an engineering team.
• Experience as a product engineer at a high-velocity org.
• Hands-on fullstack proficiency: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, frontend frameworks, and infra tooling.
• Deep familiarity with systems design, API design, and production operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow our product engineering team, mentoring and hiring.
• Partner with product and research to ship state-of-the-art features.
• Set technical strategy for the AI product platform.
• Diagnose challenges scientists face using the platform.
• Own API and UI layer decisions.
• Coordinate cross-functional planning between teams and stakeholders.
