Job summary

Edison Scientific in San Francisco is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our cloud team and scale our autonomous scientific discovery platform. You will guide architecture, operations, and growth of our cloud deployment product while mentoring junior engineers and enabling senior engineers to build world-class software.

This on-site role focuses on secure BYOC deployments, client interactions, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-grade cloud solutions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience managing an engineering team and leading cross-functional initiatives.
• Prior experience working with clients in an enterprise setting.
• Proficiency in at least one systems or backend language for operator development and infrastructure tooling.
• Deep familiarity with cloud products (AWS/GCP), security, and deployment operations.
• Strong understanding of application network architecture including VPCs, DNS, secrets, proxies, etc.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, or Crossplane) and GitOps workflows.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop the existing cloud team of 5 people, including mentorship and hiring.
• Own client interactions surrounding deployments and onboarding for enterprise clients.
• Partner with the forward deployed engineering team to set delivery timelines and align on requirements.
• Lead BYOC deployment strategy and security considerations for cloud deployments.
• Identify and solve bottlenecks in BYOC processes to streamline operations.
• Develop a technical and people strategy to scale engagement capacity.
• Own technical decision making for BYOC product.
• Coordinate cross-functional communication between engineering and stakeholders.
