Job summary

Commure is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Orchestrator team, which fixes referrals by ingesting inputs from fax, phone, or direct EHR feeds, extracting data, coordinating outbound work, and writing results back into the EHR.

The role blends document AI, voice automation, and integration engineering. You will hire, set strategy, and own delivery while collaborating with health system IT and clinicians to scale for hundreds of customers.

Qualifications

• Direct experience building software that integrates with EHRs.
• Working fluency in HL7 v2, FHIR, and interface engines.
• Strong full-stack engineering background with production services.
• At least 1 year managing engineers (5+ years as IC).
• Comfort with ambiguity beyond a spec.
• Track record building multi-customer products and prioritizing common solutions.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery for Orchestrator: intake, coordination, voice automation, and EHR write-back.
• Grow the team through hiring and raise the technical bar.
• Stay hands-on: design reviews, code reviews, and occasional production incidents.
• Define integration strategy: HL7 v2, FHIR, X12 vs UI automation.
• Scale system for higher referral volume, customers, and integrations.
• Collaborate with health system IT and clinicians to translate needs into work.
• Derive a generalized product from diverse customer processes.
• Mentor engineers to take on larger scope and provide feedback.
