Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance seeks an Engineering Manager to lead USRM Accelerator, a team delivering reusable assets and a fitness framework that enforces architecture standards across engineering squads. You will drive team effectiveness, foster continuous learning, and use agile practices to deliver high-quality software.

You will partner with Product Owner, Scrum Master, and Architect to align work with product goals while shaping KPIs and ensuring execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• Experience managing teams that use Agile Scrum
• Working knowledge of AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform and cloud-native architecture
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and understanding of AI in engineering
• Experience driving adoption of architecture standards across multiple teams
• Ability to set a clear vision, mission and strategy for a team
• Passion for advancing engineering practices and helping teams adopt best approaches
• Strong communication, influence and stakeholder management skills
• Track record of coaching engineers and building inclusive, high-trust teams
• Strong analytical skills and judgment with ability to build consensus across cross-functional stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Define reusable assets (patterns, libraries, templates, tutorials and documentation) to speed adoption of architecture standards
• Identify where standardization at scale delivers consistency and value across teams
• Identify new reusable assets to support agentic engineering practices
• Promote AI-enabled engineering practices that speed delivery
• Champion modern cloud engineering practices including cloud-native design, automation, CI/CD and infrastructure as code
• Assist in evaluating and selecting new technologies
• Guide fitness functions and framework to measure adherence to standards and derive next steps
• Partner with Product Owner, Scrum Master and Architect to align work with product goals and define KPIs
• Build partnerships with clients, technology and business managers to improve efficiency
• Monitor team effectiveness, remove roadblocks and manage dependencies
• Mentor and coach team members; deliver performance reviews and support development
