Job summary

Stripe, Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to set direction for Self Serve Direct Onboarding, partnering with Product and Design to deliver activation improvements. You will lead a team shaping onboarding experiences for users and AI agents while balancing risk controls.

You will guide architecture across UI, APIs, and backend workflows, mentor engineers, and align partners across product, Risk, Compliance, and Operations. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of engineering management experience with teams of 5+ engineers.
• 8+ years of full-time software development experience.
• Experience building user-facing products with strong user empathy.
• Ability to define priorities across multiple teams and goals.
• Coaching engineers and fostering candor, inclusion, and ownership.
• Depth to guide architecture across UI, APIs, backend, and production reliability.
• Strong communication to align technical and non-technical partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering planning and execution with Product and Design.
• Shape team strategy and roadmap across product engineering, Risk, Compliance, and Operations.
• Own delivery from problem definition to rollout with risk controls.
• Maintain high engineering standards across codebases and practices.
• Turn ambitious goals into focused plans and manage dependencies.
• Coach engineers and support career development and feedback.
• Partner with Recruiting to hire engineers and build a diverse team.
