Job summary

Brex is the intelligent finance platform enabling companies to spend smarter and move faster across 200+ markets. The engineering leader for the Bill Pay team will drive Accounts Payable software end-to-end with strong customer focus and strategic tradeoffs.

The role sits in San Francisco in a hybrid environment, requiring 3 days in office weekly with up to four remote weeks per year. You will coach engineers, shape the product and partner with Design and Product.

Qualifications

• Track record of engineering leadership building and scaling customer-facing products.
• Strong product sense with ability to defend UX tradeoffs.
• Staff-engineer level technical bar and broad influence across teams.
• Strong customer empathy and advocacy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated coaching and mentorship of engineers.
• Minimum 2+ years in an engineering management role.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a full-stack team (7-10 engineers) owning a defined part of Brex's AP software.
• Define and sharpen the team's mandate within Payments, guiding investments and wins.
• Set technical and product direction, making tradeoffs on what and when to build.
• Ship a high-quality Accounts Payable product with durable foundations.
• Foster a people-centered culture built on enablement and trust.
• Collaborate with Design and Product to align on scope and delivery.
• Provide coaching and career development for engineers at all levels.
• Bring an AI-forward mindset to how the team builds and operates.
• Translate feedback into priorities and advocate for the user.
