Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IBC, ASCE, NESC, NFPA, utility standards.
  • Engineer-in-Training (F.E.).
  • Professional Engineering License (P.E.) preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Own delivery of all engineering deliverables for assigned projects and direct reports.
  • Manage design internal and external consultant schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate review comments with consultants and track responses to closure.
  • Assist in responding to Owner and IE comments and clarifications.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for providing overall management of the engineering scope of work for SOLV Energy projects.

Position Responsibilities and Duties
General Duties
  • Support engineering efforts and generate deliverables using AutoCAD, KMZ, and SOLV proprietary software
  • Document meeting minutes for engineering-related meetings and, as needed, permitting coordination meetings; distribute engineering action items.
Engineering & Leadership
  • Support selected business development pursuits and EPC bids
  • Review Owner and client technical documents and synthesize key requirements, risks, and assumptions for estimating and proposal teams.
  • Represent SOLV's engineering organization during selected project pursuits, pricing reviews, and bid strategy discussions, coordinating with the permitting team as needed.
Contract & Due Diligence Support
  • Coordinate with the permitting team to review EPC contract exhibits related to owner- and contractor-obtained permits and flag engineering interfaces, issues, or inconsistencies.
  • Review EPC contract exhibits for value engineering opportunities and compliance with SOLV standards
Project Execution & Controls
  • Own delivery of all engineering deliverables for assigned projects and direct reports, coordinating required interfaces with the permitting team.
  • Manage design internal and external consultant schedules and budgets, tracking performance and addressing deviations for contracted scope of work.
  • Coordinate review comments with consultants and track responses to closure.
  • Assist in responding to Owner and IE comments and clarifications.
  • Identify, assess, and track engineering changes that may impact project cost, schedule, or risk profile; coordinate with the permitting team on permitting changes that affect engineering scope or design.
  • Ensure Project Managers and Field Teams understand and adhere to all project-specific engineering requirements; coordinate with the permitting team regarding permitting requirements that interface with design or construction.
  • Advocate on behalf of the Project and Owner to drive timely decisions and technical alignment.
  • Manage development of the contract energy production model and ensure final designs align with contractual modeling assumptions and Issued-For-Construction (IFC) drawings.
Consultant Management & Design Governance
  • Assess and define consultant proposals, scopes of work, schedules, and budgets.
  • Responsible for ensuring lessons learned and standard updates are appropriately integrated into QA/QC process and workflow
  • Maintain deep understanding of project-specific design requirements, including SOLV standards, Owner/contract requirements, and permitting conditions communicated by the permitting team.
  • Have working knowledge of all regionally specific constraints
Permitting Team Coordination
  • Partner closely with the permitting team to support alignment among engineering, project teams, consultants, and AHJs (federal, state, and local); attend permitting or AHJ meetings as needed to address engineering questions and interfaces.
  • Coordinate with the permitting team to understand permitting changes or conditions that may affect design scope, cost, schedule, or compliance, and communicate resulting engineering impacts to project stakeholders.
  • Support permitting due diligence by providing engineering input and technical documentation as requested. The permitting team retains responsibility for permit strategy, application preparation, QA/QC, submissions, and AHJ management.
Management & Communication
  • Onboard and Train a direct report to meet SOLV role and standards
  • Be able to provide guidance and feedback to team members requiring assistance
  • Establish relationship with regional field leadership to ensure efficiencies across a group of projects
  • Set standards for internal managers to ensure clear alignment between departments
  • Be able to set for a department and generate high quality work from reports
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements
