Job summary

Brooks Utility Products seeks an Engineering Leader to own the Engineering and Product Management functions across electrical, security, and test equipment. This senior role directs the engineering team, drives NPIs, and interfaces with customers to translate VOC into market-ready solutions.

Based in Novi, MI, this on-site role manages a 6-person team, guides DFM/Reliability, and partners with operations and quality to deliver a multi-year roadmap and KPIs for engineering effectiveness.

Qualifications

• BSME or BSEE with 10+ years in engineering and a track record of new product development.
• 4+ years leading a team in engineering.
• Hands-on electromechanical design experience across die castings, sheet metal forming, molding, and assemblies.
• Familiarity with UL, ANSI, IEEE, NEMA standards and product certification processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct the engineering team, set priorities, and establish standards of work.
• Own the EDRs, product deviations, and cross-functional workflows to improve cycle time and first-pass quality.
• Interface with customers and partners to translate VOC into market-ready products.
• Drive multi-year product roadmap and NPIs, including resource and schedule planning.
• Own product lifecycle management and drive design for manufacturability and reliability.
• Collaborate with operations and quality to transfer new products into full-scale production and implement root-cause corrective actions.
