Job summary

PlanHub, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Lead to guide the architecture and evolution of our critical email delivery platform. You will manage a team of 2-3 engineers, driving reliability, scalability, and observability in a cloud-native stack on AWS with Terraform/OpenTofu and ECS.

You will integrate AI-driven insights to ensure timely notifications to contractors and suppliers, while partnering with product leadership to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions and roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering, backend systems, or platform development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction, design, and continuous improvement of PlanHub's email delivery systems, focusing on decoupling service boundaries, event driven architecture, and operational resilience.
• Architect and implement cloud-native solutions using AWS services, including building and evolving infrastructure as code with Terraform / OpenTofu and containerized workloads deployed via ECS.
• Manage, support, and mentor a team of engineers, promoting sound software architecture, cloud-native practices, observability, and operational excellence.
• Champion reliability, scalability, fault tolerance, and observability across the platform, utilizing tools like Datadog for monitoring, alerting, and incident investigation.
• Establish patterns for safely and effectively using AI coding agents, such as Claude Code, across design, implementation, debugging, and maintenance to improve developer productivity.
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions and contribute to roadmap planning.
• Partner with application and infrastructure teams across the engineering organization to elevate technical practices, drive architectural consistency, and improve overall engineering maturity.
