Job summary

Allstate is seeking a Managing Engineer (C#/ASP.NET) to lead a team of software engineers while actively participating in design, development, testing, and support of enterprise applications built with C#, ASP.NET, and SQL Server.

The role blends people leadership with hands-on coding and technical decision-making, partnering with Product Managers and stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure solutions and a culture of collaboration. Internal title: Software Engineer Associate Manager.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of enterprise application development using ASP.NET and C#.
• At least 1 year of software engineering leadership experience.
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting production software.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL development.
• Proficiency with Vue.js, React, or Angular.
• Strong JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 and responsive web design skills.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in Agile environments.
• Ability to lead and mentor a software engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of software engineers.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications using C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, and related technologies.
• Contribute production-ready code and actively participate in feature development and system enhancements.
• Review code and provide technical guidance to engineering team members.
• Participate in iteration planning, backlog refinement, and Agile ceremonies.
• Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Lead technical design discussions and architectural decision-making.
• Ensure the delivery of scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.
• Establish and maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.
• Support production applications, troubleshoot issues, and lead root cause analysis activities.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, and Data teams to align solutions with enterprise standards.
• Promote engineering best practices, test automation, code quality, and continuous improvement.
• Monitor delivery commitments, operational metrics, and team performance.
• Foster knowledge sharing, talent development, and technical growth across the team.
