Job summary

Rivian is seeking an intern for the Design for Reliability team in Irvine to support DFMEA and lifetime validation efforts for propulsion and vehicle hardware in upcoming programs (R2 and EDV). You will develop robust reliability requirements through data analysis and modeling while leveraging AI tools to enhance workflows.

The Spring Co-Op runs Jan–Aug 2027. You must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student, with full-time on-site availability for the duration, and visa sponsorship

Qualifications

• Pursuing an accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree.
• Field of study: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or related.
• Basic to intermediate statistical methods.
• Data analysis and coding/scripting skills.
• Experience using AI tools to enhance coding workflows.
• Campus leadership or project experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support DFMEA development for Propulsion (drive units) or Vehicle Hardware systems for new vehicle programs across R2 and EDV.
• Support lifetime validation test planning for Propulsion (drive unit) or Vehicle Hardware systems for new vehicle programs across R2 and EDV.
• Investigate improvements in field, CAE and test correlation for structural components.
• Investigate development of material database for lifetime acceleration modeling and simulation.
• Develop dashboards and tracking systems to review ongoing lifetime testing for vehicle mechatronics systems.
