Job summary

American Electric Power in Bridgman, Michigan is hosting an Engineering Internship as part of its Summer Internship Program. This 10-12 week paid internship invites college students to contribute to engineering projects at Cook Nuclear Power Plant with housing stipend considerations for moves over 45 miles.

Interns work onsite and gain hands-on experience across design, field visits, data analysis, and safety-focused activities under experienced engineers and mentors.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with project teams and experienced engineers on planning, designing and executing enterprise resource projects to ensure seamless integration from design to construction.
• Engaging in design reviews, training sessions, knowledge-building projects and constructability assessments to maintain safety and operational standards.
• Participate in field visits to operational facilities to understand power system operations and assist in inspections and tests.
• Assisting in the development and analyses of databases, reports, cost estimates and dashboards to enhance data-driven decision-making.
• Supporting documentation for decision-making processes and initiatives aimed at improving operational performance and safety in our services.
• Embrace AEP’s safety culture by understanding safety guidelines and standards in both office and field environments.
• Expanding your engineering skills by taking on new challenges.
