Job summary

The Engineering Intern will support the manufacturing floor at Southwire Company, LLC, applying classroom knowledge to real-world improvements. You will design, install, and commission machine improvements while managing multiple small projects, schedules, and budgets with guidance from experienced engineers.

Internships run 10–12 weeks (co-ops 16–18 weeks), featuring onboarding, mentorship, and opportunities for future full-time roles.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in engineering
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work
• Up-to-date awareness of sustainability issues, best practices, and trends
• Proven working experience in a team environment
• Experience in systems thinking and process management
• Strong organization, planning and analytical skills
• Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Provide process support alongside senior engineering staff
• Provide technical assistance to maintenance staff as required
• Complete short-term projects as assigned (ideation, design, budgeting, execution)
• Work with vendors, internal labor, & contractors to complete assigned projects
• Coordinate with plant management groups to complete projects on schedule
