Job summary

Southwire Company, LLC is seeking interns and co-ops for its College Programs to bridge classroom learning with real-world engineering projects. You’ll contribute to data collection, analysis, and tooling for wire and cable production while gaining hands-on experience in a team-driven environment.

Positions run 10–12 weeks for interns and 16–18 weeks for co-ops, starting in the summer rotation. Opportunity for potential full-time employment exists after graduation.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a STEM degree program (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering Technology).
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong organization, planning, and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Support data collection and analysis for optimizing wire and cable conductor designs.
• Research standards to create tools for efficiency in analyses.
• Utilize analytical techniques including tensile, dimensional analysis, resistance bridges, and mass analysis.
• Build models using measured data to guide future product launches.
• Update process instructions based on validation data.
