Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. invites students to join its Corporate Engineering Internship program in Peoria, IL. You will work with engineers to apply concepts in product design, simulation, testing, and embedded software within a 12-week, full-time internship.

You will network across teams, develop practical skills, and contribute to real projects with measurable impact. Requirements include ABET‑accredited study, 24 hours completed, a 3.0 GPA, and relocation for the internship.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled full-time in a four-year university pursuing an ABET-accredited degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar technical programs.
• Must have completed at least 24 semester hours (12 for transfers) before start of internship.
• Must maintain a 3.0/4.0 GPA and relocate to Peoria, IL area for duration of internship.
• Position requires onsite work five days a week.

Responsibilities

• Join a diverse project team and engage with Caterpillar employees at all levels.
• Internship is a 40-hour-per-week assignment lasting 12 weeks.
• Opportunities to build technical skills in Product Design, Simulation, Test/Validation, Controls, Embedded Software.
• Develop data analytics and engineering tools using Python and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Contribute to engineering data analytics and process optimization initiatives.
