You will rotate through product design, simulation, test/validation, controls development, embedded software, and data analytics, collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role emphasizes real-world engineering tasks, mentorship, and on-site work during summer, with continued part-time study during the school year.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled full-time in a 4-year ABET-accredited engineering or engineering technology program.
• Minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA (no rounding) at current institution.

Responsibilities

• Product design: engineer components & systems for Caterpillar products from concept to production.
• Simulation/Performance: CFD/FEA, 3D modeling, root-cause investigations, design optimization.
• Test/Validation: hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and collaboration for optimal results.
• Controls Development: develop/implement Matlab/Simulink control algorithms for engines and powertrains.
• Embedded Software: develop C/C++ for electronic control modules; includes Python automation scripts.
• Software Validation: verify feature functionality on HIL/SIL simulators and debug.
• Engineering Data Analytics: write Python scripts; data science and ML concepts.
• Process Engineering: analyze and optimize engineering processes.
