Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) invites you to join our Denver, CO office for a 2027 Internship in civil and structural engineering. As an Intern, you’ll work alongside industry experts on field investigations, construction monitoring, and analysis to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges.

You’ll gain hands-on experience, develop testing protocols, and contribute to client deliverables while touring projects that range from assessments to design support.

Qualifications

• Interest in civil and/or structural engineering, materials science, architecture, or architectural engineering.
• Maintain high grades and interest in hands-on learning in a consulting environment.
• Strong communication abilities and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction monitoring, field investigations, condition assessments, and site inspections.
• Analyze materials and support petrography, develop test protocols, and analyze data.
• Collaborate with SGH engineers on reconnaissance and testing of existing structures.
• Organize field data and assist with research to aid analysis and repair design.
• Perform analysis under licensed professionals using hand calculations and software.
• Assist with client deliverables, including drawings, specs, and reports.
• Travel may be required and work from heights may be involved.
