Job summary

Generac is seeking an Intern Engineer in Advanced Manufacturing to support innovative technologies and process improvements across fabrication and paint operations at the Waukesha, WI campus. The role focuses on Lean manufacturing, standardization, and hands-on project work under experienced mentors during a May–August internship.

You will gain exposure to CAD/CAE, CapEx justification, and Industry 4.0 initiatives while developing technical problem-solving skills in a real manufacturing

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a BS degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
Proficient with Pro-E and/or AutoCAD; able to read and interpret drawings.
Basic Microsoft Office experience, especially Excel.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey messages clearly.

Responsibilities

Research and evaluate innovative technologies to speed up manufacturing improvements.
Develop and implement methods to eliminate waste and improve safety, quality, yield, and cost.
Coordinate activities and standardize practices across multiple facilities.
Apply CAD/CAE tools to suggest design improvements for DFM.
Support capital expenditure justifications for technology deployments.
Travel to other Generac facilities as needed and perform additional duties as assigned.
