Job summary

Mallard Manufacturing, a MacLean-Fogg Company, offers an on-site engineering internship in Sterling, IL for 10 weeks with potential extension. You will tackle meaningful projects, learn safety and manufacturing practices, and collaborate across teams to improve processes.

You will gain hands-on experience with CAD, data analysis, lean methods, and project presentation to leadership, with housing assistance available for eligible interns.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or closely related field.
• Interest in applying engineering skills to manufacturing challenges.
• Willingness to learn data tools and ask questions.
• Collaborative approach and respect for production teams.
• Ability to organize work, communicate progress, and own a project with guidance.
• Availability to work full time on site for the 10-week program.

Responsibilities

• Learn safety practices and follow procedures in office and manufacturing areas.
• Work with engineers to define a project and develop practical solutions.
• Collect and analyze data to identify opportunities and measure results.
• Use CAD, testing equipment, data analysis, root cause analysis, or lean methods.
• Contribute to improvements in safety, quality, productivity, or cost.
• Document work and communicate progress; present findings to leadership.
