The Shelby County Highway Department is seeking an Engineering Assistant/Inspector I. This full-time, hourly position provides technical support on engineering and construction projects, including inspection, testing, drafting, surveying, and documentation.

Responsibilities include inspecting roadways and bridges, documenting maintenance needs, and coordinating with developers, contractors, and state representatives. Outdoor work, nonstandard hours, and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Four years or more of progressive inspection/management experience in highway construction, surveying, material testing, or CAD, or two years of college + two years of related inspection/management experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Outdoors work and extreme weather conditions must be tolerated.
• Willing to work nonstandard hours and >40 hours when needed.

• Provides inspection, testing, and documentation for road/bridge construction projects.
• Documents citizen concerns about roadway and drainage issues.
• Inspects roadways and infrastructure and produces reports for repairs or maintenance.
• Provides inspection and documentation for maintenance by County and contracted forces.
• Maintains project files and drawings.
• Performs duties safely and efficiently.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.
