Job summary

Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District seeks an Assistant Director Engineering to oversee maintenance of the hotel’s building, mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment. The role includes leadership of the engineering team, budgeting, safety adherence, and energy management to ensure premium guest experiences.

Reporting to hotel management, you will coordinate with departments, manage staff scheduling, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent education required.
• Bachelor’s Degree or related technical school degree preferred.
• Five to seven years in a major hotel, hospital, or building with supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct walk-throughs and assess maintenance and operation of hotel structures and systems.
• Verify completion of routine maintenance across public spaces and facilities.
• Assist in hiring, training, supervising, and disciplining department staff.
• Adhere to purchasing policies, bids, budgets, and safety procedures.
• Maintain Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs.
• Report condition of building and systems to General Manager and department heads.
• Oversee payrolls and departmental manpower schedules.
• Oversee water treatment programs and daily operations.
• Represent the hotel in community and industry organizations.

Skills

Five to seven years experience

Supervisory experience

First class operating engineer license

Microsoft Office & Outlook knowledge

HotSOS maintenance program knowledge

Budgetary analysis capabilities
