Job summary

Johnson & Johnson invites applications for an Engineering Development Co-Op in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, January to December 2027. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week internship offers hands-on engineering experience within MedTech manufacturing settings.

You will assist engineers with design, prototyping, testing and documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement. Eligibility requires first-year undergraduate status and a GPA of 2.8+; CAD tools

Qualifications

• Completion of undergraduate freshman year is required.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• Have a GPA of 2.8 or higher.
• Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with design, prototyping, testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Support CAD modeling and implement simple design updates under guidance.
• Conduct experiments, collect data, and summarize results for teams.
• Prepare technical docs, drawings, and test reports.
• Support manufacturing and shop floor activities as needed.
• Participate in team meetings and present project progress.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on improvement projects.

We are searching for the best talent for Engineering Development Co-Op to be in San Lorenzo PR.

Purpose:

The Engineering Co-Op will support engineering teams through hands-on project work, testing, documentation, and process improvement activities while gaining practical experience in product development and manufacturing environments. This role provides exposure to engineering principles, cross-functional collaboration, and real-world problem-solving.

You will be responsible:

• Assisting engineers with design, prototyping, testing, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
• Supporting CAD modeling and implementing simple design updates under guidance.
• Conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and summarizing results for engineering teams.
• Preparing and maintaining technical documentation, engineering drawings, and test reports.
• Supporting manufacturing, laboratory, or shop floor activities as needed.
• Participating in team meetings and presenting project progress and findings.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support engineering initiatives and continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering , or related engineering fields.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
• Demonstrated understanding of engineering fundamentals and problem-solving methodologies.
• Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools is preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Must be enrolled as a full-time student throughout the duration of the Co-Op assignment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous internship, laboratory, manufacturing, research, or project experience.
• Experience with data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, or Excel.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
