Job summary

Johnson & Johnson's MedTech division is seeking a Facilities Engineering Co-op for our San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico campus. This 40-hour-per-week, full-time program runs January through December 2026 and offers hands-on engineering experience under mentorship in maintenance, reliability and process-improvement initiatives.

You will support Lean/Six Sigma projects, assist with design and documentation, and help ensure safety, environmental and quality standards are met on site.

Qualifications

• Completion of undergraduate freshman year is required.
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Expected graduation December 2027 or later.
• Minimum GPA 3.0 preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office; CAD/software familiarity beneficial.

We are searching for the best talent for Facilities Engineering Co-op to be in San Lorenzo, PR

• The Co-op term is from January to December, 2026.
• Full time requirement (40 hours per week).

Purpose:

The Facilities Engineering Co-Op will support the Facilities and Engineering team in identifying and implementing process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce cycle time, lower costs, and improve overall operational performance. Under the guidance of a mentor, the co-op will contribute to engineering, maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives within the facility while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

You will be responsible for:

• Supporting projects focused on improving process efficiency, quality, and operational excellence using project management methodologies.
• Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities through Lean and Six Sigma principles.
• Assisting with engineering projects, concept development, design activities, and implementation efforts as applicable.
• Preparing reports, presentations, and technical documentation to communicate project results.
• Evaluating current practices and processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Conducting gap assessments to identify deficiencies in procedures and compliance with established standards.
• Supporting maintenance, asset management, and reliability programs to enhance equipment performance and operational effectiveness.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams on facility-related initiatives.
• Ensuring compliance with environmental, health, safety, and occupational regulations, including ISO 14001 and applicable company policies.
• Performing additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Completion of undergraduate freshman year at an accredited university is required.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, , or a related engineering discipline.
• Expected graduation date of December 2027 or later.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
• Experience using engineering schematics, technical drawings, or CAD software is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Availability to work onsite in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico on a full-time co-op schedule.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, or Reliability Engineering concepts.
• Familiarity with maintenance management, asset management, or facility operations.
• Project management experience through academic, extracurricular, or work-related projects.
• Experience analyzing data and developing process improvement recommendations.
